Project overview
Transport is a concept-driven print magazine designed for a new generation of readers who value discovery, design, and culture. Aimed at young professionals aged 23–35, the publication bridges music, fashion, and travel—inviting readers to explore global creative scenes through a refined editorial lens.
The concept merges the tactile experience of print with the interactivity of digital media. Each issue features QR codes embedded throughout, allowing readers to scan directly to curated Spotify playlists and featured artists—creating a seamless link between page and sound.
Creative Direction
The challenge was to reimagine the modern music magazine for an audience that lives between analog and digital worlds. I set out to build a visual identity that felt editorial yet contemporary—one that could capture the rhythm of a playlist, the texture of travel, and the personality of each city.
Every quarterly issue highlights four global cities, each spotlighting a local musician, emerging fashion trends, and cultural experiences unique to that scene. The design system needed to adapt fluidly across these diverse narratives while maintaining a unified brand aesthetic.
Process and approach
The project began with research into independent music publications, lifestyle magazines, and digital-native editorial design systems. I developed a grid-based layout emphasizing clean typography, modular photo spreads, and bold type pairings to create a sense of structure and movement.
Color palettes and typographic accents were customized for each city—reflecting its sound, energy, and atmosphere. QR code integration became a core part of the storytelling, transforming static print into an interactive cultural experience.
reflection
Transport represents a study in how print design can evolve for the modern audience—blending storytelling, design systems, and technology into one cohesive experience. It taught me how to balance editorial consistency with cultural diversity and how to design for engagement across both physical and digital mediums.
In future iterations, I’d expand the concept into a cross-platform identity, incorporating motion teasers, social content, and interactive digital layouts that extend the magazine’s immersive experience beyond print.
